CHAPTER
II
Count Clavio enters the room, the lights are dimmed, the
room furnished with some antique furniture, and with a stone fireplace; it also
has a bar at the right corner of the room. At the bar, he saw a man cloaked
with a long coat; suggesting that the cold is getting to him, but the room is warm,
unlike the other side of the room. “Master, I have come back from the
mainland.”
“I presume that the
Emperor almost caught us?”
“Yes, Master.”
“Please, call me ‘Monte
Cristo,’ this calling me ‘Master’ is too much for me.”
“Alright… Monte Cristo,
the ‘despot’ almo–”
“Almost caught us because
many of the names he has shown you are the members of our cause, including
you?”
“Yes sir, how did you
know?”
“I was listening to your
conversation with Yuri and the others with the base’s security feed.” Monte
Cristo laughed. “Don’t be so surprised, I don’t have that kind of power strong
enough… yet.”
“I’m sorry, sir.” The
Count said humbly.
“Well then… let’s start
our–”
Yuri barged to the room “Monte
Cristo, there is trouble!”
“What is it, Yuri?”
“It’s our friends in
Mainland!”
“Why, what happened to
them?”
“They’re caught… and
awaiting their execution.”
“How much time do we
have?” Monte Cristo reached for a sabre and strapped it in him.
“Broadcast said they will
be executed in four hours.”
“Bullshit!” Monte Cristo
drinks the glass of scotch quickly. “They will be executed within two hours…
maybe within the hour even!”
The Count looked at Monte
Cristo, “How did you know about the exact time that they will be executed,
sir?”
“It is because the Emperor
does not tolerate ‘traitors,’ my friend.”
“We must get moving.
We’ll use the underground tunnels.” Yuri said with pride.
“Tunnels?” the Count
cried. “How can we get fast enough with the tunnels?”
“No,” Monte Cristo
interrupts them. “We’ll set the plan in motion earlier it seems.”
“What plan, Monte
Cristo?” the Count said with confusion.
“The plan is that ‘you’ll
be going back to your home while we will attack the concentration camp.’ We
cannot risk you getting caught. You’re our direct contact to the Emperor and
us.”
“I understand, Monte
Cristo.May the Eternal Emperor guide you
with His light.”
“You know I’m not too
religious… but alright.” Monte Cristo said then went through the door. He
looked back. “Yuri, escort the Count to his jet; use the elevator behind the bookshelf
there for a fast travel.” Monte Cristo points at the bookshelf he was
mentioning.
“There was a hidden
elevator for quick access?!” the Count cried, he looked at Yuri. “Why the hell
didn’t you mention thisin the first place, Yuri?”
“It was newly placed… I’m
sorry?”
“You just have to make me
take the scenic route huh? No matter, we have to move; our allies are waiting.”
“Agreed,” Monte Cristo shakes
hands with the Count. “Remember, Count… you must not get caught… you’re an
important asset… good luck, gentlemen.” The Count bowed and left with Yuri to
the hidden elevator.
“I hope we’re not too
late.” Monte Cristo said to himself.
The headquarters of the United Nations
in Manhattan, New York City
The United Nations are having their Conference regarding
the Holy Empire’s warmongering and Crimes against Humanity. The current
Secretary General, Ayden Van Gould, suggests allowing NATO to exert military
actions against the Holy Empire. Many of the delegates agree but some did not. “Why
do we need to involve ourselves with this? There is too many bloodshed by this
‘Empire’ and you suggest that we are to exert military actions; will that only
bring more bloodshed?” One of the delegates said.
“But where is Justice?”
the Secretary General cried. “If we did not stop this threat now then it will bring more bloodshed.”
“But we are just going to
add more bloodshed to this equation!” Many of the delegates, specifically those
who haven’t been conquered by the Empire, all agreed in unison.
“You all are just saying
that because your country hasn’t been touched by the Empire… yet.” The
Indonesian Delegate arises from his seat. “Indonesia and many other nations
have fallen to the Empire while you and many others haven’t been conquered yet.
I am pretty sure that when the Empire has conquered your country you would be
siding with us. I vote for Military Actions against the Empire.” After the
Indonesian Delegate said that, the other Delegates whose countries are annexed
by the Empire agreed, sets of arguments have been encountered during the
Conference, but before everything has gone out of hand the Secretary General
interrupts them; ceasing the dispute. “My friends, we are not barbarians, we
are civilized. And as have been for centuries; we will carry out this problem
with the Diplomatic Process.
The whole Conference Room grew silent. “Well then…” the
Secretary General continues. “Shall we carry on with the vote? Those who are in
favour for Military Actions against the Empire raise your hand.” 78% of the
Delegates all raised their hands. “Well then… in favour for ‘MAATE’ wins in a
landslide.” Just then, the massive screen in front of them turned on and shows
Monte Cristo’s face.
“Members of the United
Nations, I have come to you to tell you not to intervene with what I have planned
for the Empire.” The whole room all cried with confusion.
“What do you mean and who
are you?”
“I am Monte Cristo von
Terra, Founder and CEO of OMC.”
“And what are your
‘plans’ with the Empire?”
“I’ll be frank here: My
main plan for the Empire is to defeat it within.”
“And what are your other
plans?”
“It is up to me to decide
what ‘other plans’ I’ll be doing for the Empire. For short: I’ll help you
defeat the Empire without you getting involved with the trouble, I’ll see to it
that the nations that the Empire has conquered shall be aided but I am not sure
that they will gain their independence or not.”
“We have already voted
to–”
“Then do not do it!”
Everyone was confused on what was taking place. The Secretary General looked at
Monte Cristo with both anger and confusion. “Why won’t you want us to commence
the attack?” the Secretary General paused for a bit then continued. “Where are
you from anyways?”
“As of twenty years ago…
I am an Imperial Citizen, before the Empire’s time that is.”
The Secretary General went silent for a bit. “Thirty
years ago? Then… you’re one of the remnants of your old country?”
“That is correct, Ayden
Van Gould.”
“I understand… do as you
wish.” Mass confusion among the delegates were seen, the Secretary General
picks up the hammer and starts exclaiming “Order! I demand Order!”
The Secretary General looked at Monte Cristo again but
this time with pride and assurance. “Then don’t fail us, Monte Cristo von
Terra.”
“I didn’t plan to fail.”
Monte Cristo smiled and the screen changed its channel to a picture of Monte
Cristo’s insignia.
Count Clavio’s
Villa
Moments after the Count left the Secret Base, he returned
to his villa at Aurora Province. The whole estate is quiet, almost too quiet.
He cannot find any of his servants so he rushed inside the villa. Sebastian? He looked everywhere but with
no avail. He is all that is left in the villa. Just then, he heard several
vehicles approaching at front of his villa. He looked through the window at his
study and saw many armed Military Police charging through his once beautiful
flower garden. “Count Andreas Clavio, we have a warrant for your arrest on
charges of Aiding the enemy of the Empire and for being a traitor. If you
resist we have orders to execute you on the spot.”
“So it has come to this?” the Count said to himself.
“Well… I’m not going down without a fight.” He reached for his sword that is mounted
at the wall above the fireplace and sheathes it; he also grabbed his two
pistols and puts them to their holsters. “I might as well use ‘Theodora,’ if I
fall today at least I had the chance to use ‘her’ again.” He grabbed his rifle;
it’s an old rifle from the Second World War – Gewehr 98, it has the name Theodora engraved at the right side of
its fore-end. The Count talked to the rifle as if it’s a person. “Well my love,
this maybe our final ‘get together,’ let’s make it something special.”
“Count Clavio! This is
your final warning.” The MP Captain then signalled his men to use the battering
ram. After 3 attempts the door broke down. The Military Police charged their
way inside. The Military Police went upstairs and starts opening different
doors shouting “clear” as they advance to the Count’s study. They reached the
study’s door. The Sergeant raised his hand.“Open it. Ready? Do it!” The door
opened and the Count open fires at them. Several Military Police were killed or
wounded. The Count reloads his pistol and went outside, three more Military
Police are charging upstairs. The Count aimed at them and shoots; the shots all
hit their heads, killing them instantly as a result.
The Count move past the corridors, but at one door a
Military Police was hiding; he charged the Count with his knife, but the Count
dodges and stabbed the Military Police right through the heart. He shoots his
way downstairs but his pistols are already out of ammo so he reached for Theodora and loaded it with bullets. “It
is time, my love.” The Count said, he went outside and starts shooting at the
Military Police with frightening accuracy and precision. He hides behind the
column and reloads his rifle. “Is that all you’ve got? I’ve experienced more
challenging battles than this!” the Count said and starts firing while in
cover.
OMC Secret
Underground Base, Philippines
Somewhere in the Philippine’s Sierra Mountain Ranges lay
Monte Cristo’s underground base; the base, if drawn in a diagram is massive,
spanning thousands of miles below sea level and spanning thousands of miles in
diameter. Somewhere in that massive base is its control centre; Monte Cristo
along with his generals and the control centre’s personnel are there overseeing
the Traitors of the Empire’s Execution.
A soldier approaches Monte Cristo and said “My lord, Count Clavio is currently
under attack by Military Police at his villa.”
Monte Cristo paused for a bit, “Launch a Predator Drone
to his location and deploy our troops to aid him… at once!”
“It will be done, my
lord.” The Soldier bowed and left the control centre.
At the main hanger, three Boeing CH-47 Chinook are
getting ready to take flight. The soldiers boarded the Chinook. “Opening hanger
doors stand-by... hanger doors open, you are free to go… May the Eternal
Emperor Protects.” is heard from the hanger speakers.
